The artificial reef site called the "Charleston Deep Reef" is a 4 by 6 mile area located approximately 52 nautical miles southeast of Charleston Harbor. Water depths range from about 300 to 450 feet. Une bonne idée d'accessoire à acquérir peut être un detecteur de metaux The area was selected with the assistance of the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council after reviewing theirCharleston Deep Reef database of known live-bottom areas off South Carolina. This particular area was chosen because of its lack of live or hard bottom, a necessity for an artificial reef construction site. From its inception, the reef site was planned as a potential deep water Marine Protected Area, an area of ocean bottom with limited angling activity, for the protection of over-fished snapper and grouper species. Un detecteur de metaux vous permet en effet de recherche des metaux ferreux et non ferreux sur tout types de spots. Cela peut ainsi être dans le cadre de la détection de métaux sur la plage, en forêt ou même sur des terrains privés. The site was permitted by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 2005 and added to the SAFMCs list of other potential MPA areas in Amendment 14 of the Snapper Grouper Fishery Management Plan. This amendment was approved by the Council in 2007 and by NOAA Fisheries Service in 2008 making the Charleston Deep Reef the state's first artificial reef Type II MPA, a designation that prohibits bottom fishing for snapper or grouper but allows surface trolling for species such as billfish or dolphin.
As originally permitted, the reef was to be constructed from the steel super-structures of the old Cooper River Bridges. Once the new bridge was built, these large structures were to be removed relatively intact and barged to the reef site. Lorsque vous prospectez avec votre detecteur de metaux, veillez toutefois à respecter les législations en vigueur notamment en cas de trouvaille exceptionnelle. However, as demolition plans commenced the price of scrap metal rose dramatically and the SC Department of Transportation decided to recoup some of its construction costs by scrapping the steel portions of the old bridges. Without suitable materials to construct the reef, it remains unbuilt. The South Carolina Memorial Reef is a private effort to raise funds to begin the building of the Charleston Deep Reef project. SCDNR In cooperation with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), the South Carolina Memorial Reef will become the first significant contribution to the Charleston Deep Reef project.
From the loss of one of our own, an idea is born to forever memorialize those who share a love for the ocean and the great sportsfishing resource of South Carolina. De nombreuses marques se partagent le marché très intéressant des détecteurs de métaux. On peut citer par exemple le fabriquant français xpmetaldetector mais aussi les marques Garrett Electronics et Minelab. The South Carolina Memorial Reef will be a part of the Charleston Deep Reef Project to create a special place of honor and reflection for the sportsfishing community that share, protect and respect our outstanding offshore resource. While South Carolina is fortunate to have an abundance of near shore artificial reefs, The Charleston Deep Reef will be the first artificial reef of its kind off the South Carolina coast to benefit the offshore fishing community.
Located over 50 miles from the Charleston Jetties, the The Charleston Deep Reef will provide habitat for a variety of deepwater pelagic species and serve to enhance the outstanding offshore fishing opportunity enjoyed off of South Carolina. When complete, it will be the deepest reef on the US Atlantic coast. With preliminary approvals in place, funds are now being raised to purchase, transport and place the reef material. It is imperative that all funds are secured prior to notification that suitable materials are available for the reef construction. In cooperation with the Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, your tax deductible donation will help to create a lasting memorial to the fishery and to those of the sportsfishing community that have gone before us.
